In late October, Rhymefest made shocking allegations that Chief Keef was being exploited during an interview with The Daily Beast.
“He’s exploited. I think many rappers these days have afflictions, such as Asperger’s, bipolar disorder, or autism,” Rhymefest said. “They need advocates, but we turn it into entertainment. The media is turning autism into entertainment. When I look at Chief Keef, I clearly see someone who has autism. Look at the way his face is structured, or his insensitivity to violence. He needs an advocate. But someone put him out there and exploited that child.”
FilmOn had Sosa on their roster at the time Rhymefest’s comments were made. FilmOn Music A&R Grant Zimmerman was asked his thoughts on Rhymefest’s words during a sit-down interview with HipHopDX.
“Exploiting Chief Keef? Nah, ain’t nobody exploiting Chief Keef,” he said. “Chief Keef happens to be a real talented dude and people are engaged in what he does. Not just they’re engaged in what he does on social media, I mean, he’s super talented, that’s why people are drawn to him. I don’t think all that negative talk about him really has any relevance.”
Zimmerman reiterated Sosa’s value as an artist.
“I don’t think anybody looks at Chief Keef as a joke,” he said. “He comes from the streets of Chicago, which is one of the grimiest places in the country. I don’t think anybody discredits him.”
Chief Keef is currently suspended from FilmOn, according to VladTV.
Alki told VladTV he suspended Sosa from his label for going on an unauthorized tour. Alki also repossessed the 2015 BMW i8 he gifted Sosa on his 20th birthday. The MRSP for Sosa’s i8 was $135,700.
“Chief Keef’s contract was suspended 2 weeks ago because his management went off and did a tour without our approval,” Alki said in a statement. “Not happy with the direction they are taking him. Same sh*t over and over. Limiting his appeal to a wider audience and I’m not saying he should sell out, just be more prolific.”
Sosa had been busy on his Camp Glo tour for the past few months.
David is also upset with Sosa for collaborating with Las Vegas D.Flores who was recently arrested for kidnapping and forcing a 15-year-old girl into prostitution.
D. Flores, whose real name is Danny Flores, 26, and his girlfriend Mitzi Flores, 25, face several charges, including first-degree kidnapping, sex trafficking of a child under 16, accepting earnings of a prostitute, child abuse or neglect and conspiracy to commit sex trafficking.
Despite Sosa’s contract being suspended, Alki says he still believes in the Glo Gang boss.
“I don’t blame Keith, I blame his shady management. Keith is a f*****g rap superstar.”
