Freddie Gibbs is facing legal trouble while touring in Europe. The “Lay It Down” rapper is suspected of raping a woman last year in Austria. He was arrested and taken into custody just minutes before taking the stage at the Rex in Toulouse, France, according to Pitchfork.
Gibbs, 33, is going to be extradited to Austria to await trial. His legal team shared the following statement:
“Freddie Gibbs adamantly denies the allegations that have been levied against by Austrian authorities. It makes you wonder why it took almost a year for Austrian officials to bring these charges. Freddie will be fighting the extradition request as these are nothing more than trumped up charges.”
Gibbs has four more dates remaining in his European tour.
The full dates are as follows:
June 5 – Village Underground, London, UK
June 7 – L’Affranchi, Marseille, France
June 8 – La Laiterie, Strasbourg, France
June 10 – Primavera Sound, Porto, Portugal
June 17 – Adelaide Hall, Toronto, Canada
