Joey Badass Disses Kendrick Lamar For ‘King Of New York’ Line In Big Sean’s ‘Control’

Joey Badass is not taking Kendrick Lamar’s “Control” verse lightly after the Compton MC purported to be the “King of New York.”

The Brooklyn native slammed K Dot in a series of tweets:

“A lot of u rap nikkkaz scared to speak your opinions f--- dot!!!


“NY, yall got me?

“How can yall think I’m hating on Kendrick right now? Much respect to him for bodying everybody. This day marks a new rap game kno dat. Haha

“Im glad yall nikkkaz hating eye love it…. fuel me, the “95 Til Infinity” rapper wrote.

In addition to proclaiming himself the King of New York, Kendrick Lamar takes a few shots at rival MCs, including J. Cole, Big Krit, Wale, Pusha T, Meek Mill, A$Ap rocky, Drake, Big Sean, Jay Electronica, Tyler The Creator and Mac Miller.

In “Control,” Kendrick Lamar raps:

“I heard the barbershops be in great debates all the time/Who’s the best MC? Kendrick, Jigga and Nas/Eminem, Andre 3000, the rest of yall/New n----- just new n-----, don’t get involved/And i ain’t rockin no more designer s---/White T’s and Nike Cortez, this is red corvettes annonymous/Im usually homeboys with the same n----- im rhymin wit/But this is hip hop and them n----- should know what time it is/And that goes for Jermaine Cole, Big KRIT, Wale/Pusha T, Meek Mill, A$AP Rocky, Drake/Big Sean, Jay Electron’, Tyler, Mac Miller/I got love for you all but I’m tryna murder you n-----/Tryna make sure your core fans never heard of you n-----/They dont wanna hear not one more noun or verb from u n-----/What is competition? I’m tryna raise the bar high.”
