Lil Herb Reveals Why He Changed Name To ‘G Herbo’

Lil Herb told fans last month that his new official stage name is “G Herbo” after announcing his new deal with Cinematic Music Group.

Herb opened up on the name change during an interview with HotNewHipHop.

“Right now, I go by ‘G Herbo,’” he said. “The whole name change and why I went about is me transitioning, maturing from a boy to a man, just the way I move. The ‘G’ stand for general. It was given to me by my homies. Where we come from, you move like a leader. We all label ourselves like leaders, so we move like a leader. That “G” symbolize the way I move as a person, as an artist. Lil Herb, of course my core fans know me as that. I ain’t gon just abandon that.”

Lil Herb first revealed the meaning of the “G” in “G Herbo” during his interview with Hip Hop Wired in February.

Herb revealed the latter name has special meaning during an interview with Hip Hop Wired.

“I don’t consider myself a young O.G. I kinda am,” he said. “I got the name G Herbo from one of my big homies. He called my G Herbo. I didn’t make that name up. G in my neighborhood don’t mean like G like gangster. It mean like general, you get respect.”
