Lil Herb is the latest candidate for XXL Freshman 2014. Despite being a newcomer to the underground Hip Hop spotlight, his debut mixtape “Welcome To Fazoland” has earned much praise.
It is this praise that has Herb feeling like a top selection for XXL’s highly regarded list.
“I bring real lyrics,” Herb told XXL Magazine. “I tell a real story behind what I’m doing. I gotta movement and I feel like my first mixtape ‘Welcome To Fazoland’ was considered a classic. If you wanna know what’s going on in Chicago right now, you listen to ‘Welcome To Fazoland’ and I’ma deliver a real story to you.”
“Come from a lot and I worked hard to get where I’m at,” Herb continued. “This not no comfort level for me. I’ma keep putting in the work and keep on going. I feel like I’m the hottest out right now as far as really delivering bars and stories and getting my point across. I feel like I’m the best person doing it right now from my city. I feel like I paint a real picture of Chicago and what’s just going on with my movement. I feel like nobody else doing that.”
