Lil Reese Reacts To Spike Lee’s ‘Chi-Raq’ Trailer

You can say Spike Lee didn’t get the reaction he hoped for his controversial “Chi-Raq” trailer. The reception amongst Chicago natives was mixed.

Many artists from the Chicago Hip Hop have taken to social media to offer their opinion on the film’s trailer.

Lil Reese replied he had “no comment” when asked by a fan his thoughts on the preview.

Reese’s 300 brother Lil Durk is also unsure about the project.

“Respect spike lee but that don’t look like a Chiraq film,” the “300 Days, 300 Nights” rapper wrote on Twitter.

Spike Lee’s latest feature film “Chi-raq” is slated for release on Dec. 4. Amazon is set to premier Lee’s “Chi-Raq,” a musical comedy starring Nick Cannon, Wesley, Jennifer Hudson, Angela Bassett, John Cusack and Samuel L. Jackson, according to Entertainment Weekly. The company has brought in Roadside Attraction and Lionsgate to get the film premiers in major cities, according to deadline.com.

“I’m honored to be part of the film that will launch Amazon Studios and to tell a story that is so important,” Lee said in a statement to EW. “Please don’t be fooled by the title of Chiraq. This new Spike Lee joint will be something very special. We have assembled a stellar cast.”

The synopsis for Spike Lee’s “Chi-Raq,” according to IMDB, reads:

“A modern day adaptation of the ancient Greek play Lysistrata by Aristophanes, set against the backdrop of gang violence in Chicago.”
