Lil Uzi Vert Reveals Label Won’t Let Him Drop New Music

Lil Uzi Vert revealed he was stepping away from music Friday night. Uzi issued a video message to fans, providing some backdrop on his decision to quit his music career:

“Y’all talking about drop something. I’m tryna drop something. I dropped ‘New Patek.’ That s**t ain’t getting leaked. I’ve been tryna drop something new. Bro, this is my life now. All I can do is make music, and sit back and wait for y’all response, and make visions to this s**t. You think I don’t wanna drop music? You just gotta understand when people don’t love you, they’ll hold your life if you sign a motherf*****g Hold that s**t against you. And that go for the streets too. You ain’t supposed to sign no motherf*****g paper in the streets because that’s rattin. How the f*** I even sign this s**t as a deal. Motherf****r set myself up. What other way I was suppose to let this s**t go? S**t, it be all good at first just like them motherf****n rats. Motherf*****s be right out of jail.”

The 24-year-old rock star took to IG to announce his departure from music.

Uzi wrote, “I wanna take the time out to say I thank each and every one of my supports but I’m done with music I deleted everything I wanna be normal… I wanna wake up in 2013. You are free.”

Uzi’s step away from music can possibly be attributed to his label issues. Uzi is signed with Atlantic Records under DJ Drama’s Generation Now imprint.

Uzi spoke on his label issues in Shabazz PBG’s “Shells.”

Uzi raps, “Tryna figure out how I’m gon get out my deal, I’m a bad boy, a reverend, I feel like I’m Mase.”
