A Chicago man is currently brain dead following a June 1 shooting over social media comments, according to Chicago Sun Times. Clifton Frye, 22, was hospitalized after he was shot for allegedly dissing slain Chicago rapper Young Pappy on Facebook.

Chiraq artist Young Pappy was gunned down in Chicago Friday, May 29 after he was shot twice in the back in Uptown. He was taken to Advocate Masonic Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Germel Dossie, 17, was charged in Frye’s shooting. Dossie was a passenger in a car when he spotted Frye in Rogers Park. He approached Frye after leaving the vehicle and shot him three or four times, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Dossie was reportedly charged as an adult with aggravated battery and attempted murder. He was ordered held on $1 million bail.

Young Pappy was a controversial in and out of music. He reportedly had two near brushes with deaths since 2014. In February 2014, Pappy was the victim of a shooting that left 17-year-old friend Markeyo Carr dead and two other teens injured. Pappy was shot in the arm.

In July 2014, Pappy dodged a bullet from an unknown gunman as he waited for a bus. The bullet ended up striking and killing 28-year-old photographer Wil Lewis.

In early May, Pappy was involved in a five-hour standoff with police after authorities claim to have heard gunshots from the residence. Thirty-one people were charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct.

Pappy released his “Shooters” music video just a week before his murder.
