Master P Says Aspiring Artists Should Go Independent

Master P joins the throngs of seasoned Hip Hop veterans who are advocating artists to go the Independent route.

Master P told listeners during an interview with Power 105’s “The Breakfast Club” it is best to take advantage of the “technology” that’s available.

“Why you gon sign a deal with a major record company that’s gon control all yo rights? You probably gon sign a 7-year deal. Maybe even a lifetime deal, P explained. “And every product that you put out, they gon get money for it. Every show that you do, they gon get money for it. You might as well get a regular job.”

The No Limits Records pioneer said 360 deals are not for everybody.

A 360 deal represent a business deal between an artist and their record label. Artists are required to give their labels a percentage of their incomes they earn through album sales and concert performances.

Master P said an artist with a hit single could make more money online by submitting it to iTunes.
