Mystikal Mourns Loss Of New Orleans Rapper Mr. Magic



The New Orleans music scene experienced a tragic loss after one of its well-known artists died in a car accident.

Mr. Magic, whose real name is Awood Johnson, and his wife succumbed to injuries in crash that occurred Friday, March, 1 in Hattiesburg, Miss. The couple’s daughter Twila Wise Johnson was the lone survivor.

Rapper Mystikal took to Twitter to remember former labelmate and close friend Mr. Magic.

“RIP TO MY BROTHER. MR MAGIC & HIS WIFE! GOD BLESS THEIR FAMILIES,” he wrote.



The two emcees famously collaborated on the hit song “Wobble Wobble.”

Mr. Magic released three albums under No Limit Records, including “Sky’s the Limit, Thuggin’ and “White Eyes.” His last solo album “On My Own,” was released under Koch Records in 2003.

Mr. Magic also joined with Roy Jones, Jr. and Choppa to form Body Head Bangerz. The group released their debut album “Bangerz: Volume One” in 2004.
