Papoose Calls New York Hot 97 ‘Bias’

Papoose and Hot 97 on-air talent Peter Rosenberg engaged in a war of words over the Brooklyn native’s response to Kendrick Lamar’s “Control.”

Papoose took issue with Kendrick’s decision to disrespect New York City and the Muslim faith in Big Sean’s “Control.”

“I’m important like the pope, I’m a Muslim on pork/I’m Makaveli’s offspring, I’m the king of New York,” Kendrick raps.

Papoose tore into Kendrick Lamar with a barrage of punch lines in his “Control” freestyle:

“Back when we was slaves they used to cut off our balls/Then stuffed ’em in our mouths, kept us away from the girls/Modern day slavery, now they put us in jail/A bunch of men in cells away from the females/This wasn’t done just because the color of skin/This was done cause they never wanted us to be men/Kendrick, Kanye, Drake, they all act feminine/Wear a lot of clothes you usually see women in/So the mainstream America finds it interesting.”

Rosenberg, who regards himself as “Team K Dot,” believes Papoose went “o-d” in his response citing Papoose’s “Control” line references to Kendrick’s mom and Top Dawg Entertainment.

“In my opinion, Kendrick’s record was not a personal diss at anyone,” Rosenberg said. “He said the New York line to stir things up, have a fun conversation and get bragadocious.

“I was definitely taken aback by how hard you went and that you took personal shots at Kendrick,” he added.

Papoose responded, “When you disrespect New York, anything goes…this is Hip Hop. We all fell in love with Hip Hop…none of us dictates Hip Hop.

“This is Hip Hop, I live this,” he continued. “I’m apart of the culture. That’s what I represent everyday.”

Papoose directed his criticism at Rosenberg whom he referred to as “bias.”

“I’m tired of all the bias situations and favoritism,” the “Turn It Up” rapper said. “None of that don’t apply to the fans, to the streets…you can’t change the minds of my fans. People love what I do.”
