Smylez is one of the top producers providing the epic sound for the Chiraq Hip Hop movement. But to be the best, one has to learn from the best. The Bricksquad producer/rapper revealed during an interview with ZackTV he learned how to make beats from none other than Young Chop.
The “6916” rapper says him and Young Chop used to be very close during their time at Paul Robeson High School.
“I just started making beats twenty-ten,” he said. “I was f-cking with [Young Chop]. That was my homie. We was f-cking around in high school.
“I was more rapping,” he continued. “He used to come to my crib everyday make beats. I used to watch what he was doing. I started f-cking with him. I started f-cking with a lot of community motherf-ckers. I kept going and I got cold at that sh-t.”
