The Real Rick Ross Arrested With $100K Of Suspected Drug Money

Former Los Angeles crack cocaine kingpin “Freeway” Ricky Ross was arrested last week on suspicion of possessing money related to the sale of a controlled substance, according to the LA Times.

Ross, also nabbed on suspicion of conspiring to commit a crime, was alleged to have been holding more than $100,000 at the time of his arrest. He is no longer in custody.

Ross, 55, was arrested in the Emerald Triangle, a region in northwestern California famous for legal and underground marijuana production, the Orange County Register reports.

Ross’ latest arrest comes only a few years after he released from prison on major drug crimes. Ross was convicted in 1996 of conspiring to buy more than 100 kilograms of cocaine from a police informant and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. He was released in 2009 after his sentence was reduced in 2005 from 20 to 16 1/2 years.

Ross filed a lawsuit against rapper Rick Ross for stealing his name. Ross lost his suit.

Ross’ life was documented in film “Freeway: Crack in the System.”
