Tom Joyner Offers Trayvon Martin’s Friend, Rachel Jeantel, a Full Ride HBCU Scholarship

The past few weeks have been extremely tough for Rachel Jeantel who acted as the prosecution’s star witness in the George Zimmerman trial.

Jeantel, who was the last person to speak with slain teen Trayvon Martin, faced ridicule for her testimony in perhaps the nation’s most polarizing case in recent history.

Tom Joyner, host of the Tom Joyner Morning Show, had Jeantel as a guest on his show Tuesday morning and offered Jeantel an opportunity of a lifetime after providing the 19-year-old woman with a full ride scholarship to any HBCU she chooses.

News of the offer was shared via the radio show’s Twitter account.

“Trayvon Martin’s Friend, Rachel Jeantel, Offered Scholarship from Tom Joyner | ‪http://bit.ly/16GkSMX ‪#TeamRachelJeantel,” the tweet read.

Jeantel has one small roadblock in her way of entering a realm of higher education.

She is a high school dropout and needs to acquire her GED before enrolling in college.

But Jeantel is just in luck.

Joyner offered the young woman assistance with tutors to help her get an GED and pass the SAT.

“I will help you get tutors to get you out of high school, tutors to help you pass the SAT and I will give you a full ride scholarship to any HBCU you’d like,” Joyner said, according to Black America Web.

Jeantel expressed gratitude for the gesture, saying, “Thank You.”

Jeantel told the TJMS crew she would consider a career in law enforcement.

“#RachelJeantel told me that she wants to go into law enforcement and I want to help her. ‪#TeamRachelJeantal,” a tweet on TJMS Show read.
