Troy Ave Arrested For Firing Gun In Shooting That Left Best Friend Dead, Charged With Attempted Murder

Things aren’t looking to good for Troy Ave right now. The up and coming Brooklyn rapper is seen on newly released surveillance footage firing a gun in a shooting incident that left one person dead.

The “Bang Bang” rapper, who accidentally shot himself during the melee, was charged with attempted murder, reckless endangerment and illegal weapons possession, according to the New York Daily News.

The shooting allegedly occurred during a scuffle between the camps Troy Ave and rival rapper Maino. Maino had just finished his performance when a fight broke out in the second-floor greenroom around 10 p.m.

Maino took to IG to deny any role in the fight and shooting, posting a photo of himself with Troy Ave.

The caption on Maino’s post read, “First and foremost my deepest condolences to the family & friends of Ronald Mcphatter who was tragically killed last night. Despite having to cope with more senseless violence. I woke up to the usual FALSE and ridiculous lies being circulated by irresponsible members of the media. What transpired was absolutely NOT the result of MYSELF or ANYBODY IN MY CAMP , ENTOURAGE, TRAVELING PARTY or ORGANIZATION IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM. We entered the venue respectfully as always and exited in shocked like all other concertgoers. For the last 5 years Troy Ave, his team and I have had a great working relationship. Not only have we performed and done several songs together but we’ve had many personal conversations about life our goals and efforts as musicians. Despite media reports to the contrary, there are No “ongoing beefs” or “entourage issues.” It always has been and always will be good relations between myself AND MY TEAM and @TroyAve @Hovain @YoungLitoBsB and the BSB crew. Our deepest sympathies again to family of Ronald McPhatter and a speedy recovery to Troy Ave. The movement will not be stopped. #BrooklynUnited #HeardYou.”

Many felt Maino was involved in the shooting incident after he retweeted someone who wrote, “the worst part about Troy Ave getting shot is him not dying.”

Maino denied he’d wish death on Troy, writing, “Y’all crazy if y’all think I want da man dead. I didn’t believe it was true. And I retweeted was I thought was a joke at the time,” he wrote on Instagram. “Me and @TroyAve had our issues but I would never wish death on him. I will wish him a speedy recovery. #GodLevel.”

The deceased victim in the shooting is Troy Ave’s friend Ronald (Edgar) McPhatter.

The victim’s mother, Rose McPhatter, told the New York Daily News her son has known Troy since they were in junior high school.

McPhatter is reportedly shown in surveillance footage entering the green room behind Troy Ave, and then running past him as shots were fired.

He was shot in the stomach, fell downstairs and collapsed near a bar. He later died at Mount Sinai Israel Hospital.

Ms. McPhatter is upset with Troy for not notifying her of her son’s death.

“He actually cared a lot about Troy Ave. My wish is that Troy Ave cared as much about my son as he cared about him. I say that because I watched how my son would always bend over backwards to help him,” Rose told NY Daily News.

“If he (Troy Ave) cared about my son as much as he alleged he does, I would’ve received a call from him. He didn’t call me. He didn’t call any of my other sons.”

Other victims in the incident included 26-year-old Maggie Heckstall, who was shot in the leg, and Christopher Vinson, 34, who was struck in the abdomen after a bullet went through the floor.

50 Cent visited the Heckstall in the hospital.

T.I., the headliner of the event held at Irving Plaza Concert Hall, took to Twitter to offer his condolences to families affected by the tragedy.

“My heart is heavy today. Our music is intended to save lives, like it has mine and many others. My heartfelt condolences to the family that suffered the loss and my prayers are with all those injured,” he wrote.
