Wale Shows Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. Love in Omarion’s ‘M.I.A.’

Maybach Music Group artist Wale shouted out a famous black fraternity in his feature on Omarion’s new single “M.I.A.”

In ‘M.I.A.,” Wale raps, “Loving too much will leave you blue and I ain’t pledge Sigma.”

Wale’s college background may have plenty to do with his knowledge of African-American fraternities. Wale attended Robert Morris University before transferring to historically black university colleges Virginia State University and Bowie State University, respectively. Greek life is known to be highly popular at HBCUs.

Phi Beta Sigma is second Black Greek-Lettered fraternity founded at a HBCU. It was founded at Howard University on Jan. 9, 1914. Notable members of the blue and white fraternity include civil rights activist Huey P. Newton, former President Bill Clinton and scientist George Washington Carver.

Do you think Wale was interested in pledging the fraternity during his undergrad years? Sound off below.
