Baton Rouge rapper Webbie is facing serious charges after he was accused of allegedly beating his girlfriend, Pitchfork reports.
Webbie, born Webster Gradney, Jr., was arrested Wednesday on domestic assault charges after allegedly holding his girlfriend at a hotel for about two hours against her will, according to The Advocate.
The alleged victim told authorities Webbie abused her with a closed fist, an open hand, and a belt. She also claims Webbie allegedly pinned her to the ground and pushed his knees into her throat.
Webbie is being charged with aggravated battery with a dangerous weapon, second-degree battery, domestic abuse by strangulation, false imprisonment, theft and simple criminal damage to property.
Webbie’s girlfriend had visible marks on her thighs and back, multiple hematomas on her head, and other abrasions, lacerations, and bruises.
Webbie’s girlfriend also told authorities the rapper had been using c—— and marijuana for two days without sleeping.
She told police that while it was her first time reporting Webbie, it was not the first time he abused her.
Webbie’s bail was set at $34,000.
