Alpha Phi Alpha Member Accused of Stealing Money from Fraternity

A former Appalachian State University student is charged with embezzling over $1000 from his fraternity, The Winston-Salem Journal reported.

Curtiss Stafford, a 24-year-old treasurer for his school chapter, wrote nearly a dozen checks out to himself, Detective Kat Brackenridge told The Winsten-Salem Journal.

Stafford reportedly wrote ten checks totaling $1, 200 from May 18 to June 1, according to Brackenridge.

“He was making purchases and one check he actually wrote out to himself,” she told the Journal.

Stafford was charged with three counts of felony embezzlement.
