Bow Wow & Mike Vick Start Black Hair Care Company ‘Wave Masterz’

Bow Wow and Mike Vick are flexing their entrepreneurial muscle and stepping into the hair care industry.

The entertainer and sports athlete formed the company “Wave Masterz.” The company will offer consumers du-rags, brushes, skull caps and hair pomade, CBS Sports reports.

Vick beckoned fans to support his new venture on Twitter.

“Follow the next BIG thing, my business venture: @WaveMasterz #TeamVick,” he wrote.

An ingenious product the two implemented was a wave brush equipped with a mirror.

“The new #WaveMasterz product. #MasterzoftheGame @WaveMasterz,” Vick wrote regarding the brush.

A message posted by the company’s Twitter account shows Bow Wow photoed with President Barack Obama. The post stated Bow Wow gifted the Obamas with a few of their brushes.

“How many brushes do you think @106andPark’s @YMCMB_BW gave 2 the Obamas? LOL cc: @BET @$Music @MTVnews @HipHopDX @cnn,” the post read.

Bow Wow, born Shad Moss, and Vick are tapping into a lucrative industry. The Black Hair Care industry is a multibillion-dollar industry.

It was this industry that paved the way for Madame C.J. Walker to become the first American female to become a self-made millionaire.

Johnson Products, headquartered in Chicago, became the first African American-owned company to be listed in the American Stock Exchange in 1971. But this company later ended up under the L’Oreal Company umbrella through a series of buys.

L’Oreal now controls 20 percent of the black hair care market, according to communitysteeple.com

Many whites and Koreans control a huge market share of this industry despite its consumers being predominantly African American.
