Chief Keef’s Brother Shot and Killed Day After New Years

Chicago Rapper and Interscope artist Chief Keef’s half-brother Ulysses Gissendanner III was fatally shot in the back of the head on January 2nd. After visiting an uncle in West Pullman, Gissendanner was shot in a car near 124th and Union. Gissendanner was soon taken to Roseland Hospital where he died.

19-year-old college student Ulysses “Chris” Gissendanner III was an aspiring rapper from the suburbs of Chicago. Gissendanner’s hip hop alias was “YPN Boomtown.” The Oak Park-River Forest High graduate was related to the Glory Boyz Entertainment Rapper by marriage. Chief Keef’s father, Alfonso Cozart, was the step father of Gissendanner. Authorities don’t believe the family connection had anything to do with the incident.

According to Chief Keef’s maternal grandmother lawyer and his immediate family, Chief Keef did not recognize Gissendanner as family.

Chief Keef “wasn’t friendly” with Gissendanner and had “nothing to do with the kid,” attorney Dennis Berkson said. “And Chief Keef has no relationship with his father.”

No word yet on Gissendanner’s funeral.
