CNN Contributor Marc Lamont Hill Supports ‘Qualified’ Transgendered Men Joining Alpha Kappa Alpha

“I would… honest to god. If a trans man wanted to join, and they were qualified. I’d support them.”
– Marc Lamont Hill, Commentator

Marc Lamont Hill, a regular CNN commentator and host of the nationally syndicated television show Our World with Black Enterprise, took to Twitter to express his thoughts on miAKAs.

Hill, a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., sympathizes with LGBT community wanting to be included in Greek organizations, but doesn’t think entry into Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. is the right move.

“I think MIAKA is fine,” he wrote. “We have “sweethearts” “pearls” etc… Nothing wrong with the male version. But joining is another thing.”

A user on Twitter asked Hill a thought-provoking question on whether Alpha Kappa Alpha and the divine nine orgs would accept the membership of a transsexual person.

Hill responded, “I would… honest to god. If a trans man wanted to join, and they were qualified, I’d support them.”

But besides transgendered individuals, Hill doesn’t think it’s “discriminatory for a sorority to be able to only accept women. Same with Frats.”

On the miAKAs who want to be members of AKA, Hill suggests they should simply “pledge Alpha.”
