It was Jay Z’s “Takeover” that sparked one of the greatest battles Hip Hop has ever witnessed. It summoned the wrath out of Nas who dropped the crucial retaliation record “Ether,” which appeared on his “Stillmatic” album.
Roc co-founder Dame Dash took to IG to admit Nas handed his legendary label its first L.
Dash wrote in his caption, “Can’t front this n-gga handed us our first lost with that sh*t…O went away to do a photo shoot and @irvgotti187 got in the studio wit your man and I came back to a hot mess I was tight but that was a dope battle no violence and they worked together after but I was def tight…can’t win them all.”
It has been over 10 years since Hov’s “Takeover” and Nas’ “Ether” blessed Hip Hop heads’ ears. Listen to both records below.
