Earvin ‘Magic’ Johnson Praises LeBron James For Work With Children

Philanthropist Earvin “Magic” Johnson knows a thing or two about giving back to those less fortunate. Johnson’s charitable contributions includes Charity Folks and Keep a Child Alive, just to name a few.

Johnson praised Miami Heat superstar LeBron James early Wednesday for his work with children through his LeBron James Family Foundation.

Admire all ‪@KingJames is doing to educate & support young people in his hometown through his foundation.

James expressed gratitude for the five-time NBA champion’s words.

“Thanks Magic!” he wrote.

The LeBron James Family Foundation was created before James entered the league in 2003, according to his website.

“Mom and I wanted to create a foundation that, regardless of where I was playing, would be dedicated to giving back to the community by enriching the support system that helped us along our journey,” he wrote. “And today, we’re still all in!”

James doesn’t want any of his program’s children to become statistics. His mission is to provide each of his children an opportunity at higher education.

“Each year we’re adding a new class of third graders and in the ten years before they graduate, we’ll be working with Akron Public Schools and Akron After School to get them college and career ready,” he wrote.
