In a 911 Call, Zimmerman referred to Trayvon Martin as a “fu—ing coon” in 911 recording. As Zimmerman speaks with an emergency dispatcher, he refers to the teen as the derogatory term.

Though he removes the speaker from his mouth, he is still very audible as he says in a low voice, “fucking coons.”

Whether this is a case regarding race may not be much of a debate if this clip of Zimmerman uttering these hateful words is indeed verified.

Dispatcher: …Which entrance is that that he’s headed towards?

Zimmerman: The back entrance…

(mutters) fucking coons…

Dispatcher: Are you following him?

Zimmerman: Yes

Dispatcher: Ok, we don’t need you to do that

Zimmerman: Ok

Coon is a derogatory term for black people. The coon stereotype depicted a childish or foolish acting black person. The demeaning role was popularized during the Minstrel era. Minstrel shows were a popular brand of comedy where actors dressed in blackface and acted as buffoons.
