Katie Got Bandz Speaks on Setting A Trend For Female Rappers

When one speaks about female rappers of the Chi, Katie’s name comes up.

Katie, a product of the Ida B. Wells housing project in South Side Chicago, is considered the First Lady of the Drill Movement.

The 19-year-old femcee is continuing to let her voice be heard as one of the few females bringing attention to the music scene in the Windy City.

Katie hopes to be a voice for female artists to model themselves after.

“I’m trying to go outside of the box. I’m trying to set a trend for the females,” she told Dazed Digital. “I don’t think that we have to sell ourselves to get on. You have to remain humble and don’t let the negative stuff slow you down. You gotta let that be your motivation.”
