L’A Capone’s mom, Dedra Morris, has been closely following the cases of her son’s killers. Ms. Morris, aka Momma Capone took to IG to announce justice for her son was coming soon.
Capone, born Leonard Anderson, was shot and killed while leaving a studio on Sept. 26, 2013. He was 17.
Three rival gang members were charged in L’A’s murder.
Meiko Buchanan, 23, was charged with first-degree murder in the Sept. 26 slaying and held in lieu of $1 million bond.
Buchanan confessed to the crime while in custody awaiting trial on unrelated charges of aggravated battery of a peace officer and aggravated use of a weapon, according to the Chicago Tribune.
Two other suspects have also subsequently been charged in Capone’s death.
Michael Mays, 21, and 17-year-old Sakhee Hardy-Johnson were charged with first-degree murder. Cook County Circuit Judge Laura Sullivan ordered Mays held on $500,000 bail and Hardy-Johnson held on $350,000 bail.
Mays and Hardy-Johnson also confessed to the crime, according to the Chicago Tribune.
Buchanan’s role in the murder was driver of the “trail car,” a vehicle that follows the lead car containing the gunman, Assistant State’s Attorney Alex Molesky told the Tribune.
Buchanan allegedly said he pulled into the alley and watched the gunman sneak up on L’A and shoot him twice.
The alleged rival gang members had an ongoing dispute with Capone, Molesky said in court, according to the Tribune.
