Lil Durk took to social media to honor the memory of slain cousin OTF NuNu on the one-year anniversary of his tragic murder.
NuNu, aka Nuski, was shot multiple times Saturday, May 31, 2014 as he was sitting in his vehicle in a parking lot outside of Chatham Village Square mall at Cottage Grove and 87th Streets, according to the Chicago Tribune. He died at the scene. He was 21.
Durk posted a photo of NuNu onto IG with a title, reading, “Regardless Of The Pain I Ain’t Gon Cry.”
Durk captioned his post, “Nuskiday rip my blood cousin man sh*t crazy don’t seem real wish you was here to see me killing sh*t making n*ggas mad flexing on em I love ou lil bro I’m gone keep on f*cking em up #rememberMYNamealbumjune2nd p.s opps can’t take me I’m doing tha most.”
NuNu’s death has affected Durk for the past year.
“This s--- really hittin me bro I wish you was here with me right now f-- everybody who ain’t for us ily shorty on lss every tear I shed how many moms gone geel it,” the caption on one of his IG posts read.
Durk issued a statement days following NuNu’s loss. He honored NuNu and thanked all of his fans for their messages of support.
“I just turned my phone on and seen all dese text love for the support,” he wrote.
Durk later posted an image of himself with Nuski to his IG account.
“Words can’t explain @official_nuski just like you told me we gotta win……#Nuski,” the caption on the post read.
Durk also celebrated the life of NuNu on his 22nd birthday.
Durk’s debut LP “Remember My Name” is set to drop June 2.
