There is trouble brewing in the empire of Cash Money Records and its reigning prince is roaring mad. Lil Wayne issues a series of statements via his Twitter account revealing he was no longer happy with the label he started his career with.
The entire dilemma stems from his long-delayed fifth studio album “Tha Cater V.” Weezy’s forthcoming album was slated to drop Dec. 9. But the lack of promotion behind the project made its release date all but likely. Its first release date was scheduled for Oct. 28.
Wayne blasted his stepfather/boss Birdman and threatened to leave Cash Money.
“To all my fans, I want u to know that my album won’t and hasn’t been released bekuz Baby & Cash Money Rec. refuse to release it.
“I want off this label and nothing to do with these people but unfortunately it ain’t that easy
“I am a prisoner and so is my creativity … Again, I am truly sorry and I don’t blame ya if ya fed up with waiting 4 me & this album. But thk u
“This is not my fault. I am truly and deeply sorry to all my fans but most of all to myself and my family for putting us in this situation,” he wrote.
Weezy’s admission follows the public fallout between the label and YMCMB artists Tyga and Lil Twist.
Lil Twist slammed his management team for failing to promote his music.
“I swear I gotta have the worst management team in the history of management teams.. Like wow this sh-t crazy.. All I wanna do is drop music,” he wrote on Twitter.
Tyga, who is planning the release of “The Gold Album: The 18th Dynasty,” took his frustrations against the label to social media.
“Gold album been done. My label holding me hostage so i can’t release nothing. Might just leak it for my fans then let them make $ off it,” he wrote.
T-Raww later stated he wouldn’t be staying on Young Money for long.
