Lupe Fiasco to Roland Martin: ‘Sick of u uppity black ni**as’

Lupe Fiasco had strong words for CNN contributor Roland Martin on the topic of voting. The two engaged in a vicious twitter war that elicited response from many users in Twittersphere.

The “B*tch Bad” rapper took issue with Martin saying his desire not to vote could cause the incumbent president the election. Lupe shot back saying, “Yo @rolandmartin obama ain’t gone lose cuz of me and my raps dawg… Now I’m begging you bruh bruh #LeeMeAlone or #YouGoneGetThisWork !!!”

Lupe, born Wasalu Muhammad Jaco, wrote that Martin Luther King, Jr., who happens to belong to same fraternity as Martin, would be ashamed of “uppity black ni**as hiding behind political correctness.”

Lupe explained voting has done nothing to solve the death rate of African Americans.

“we still dying in these streets,” he wrote. “Wasting away in these prisons and trapped in mental slavery and all you ni**as can come up with is VOTE your way out?!?”

The rapper took issue with the built-up buzz around election and asked, “what about the 4 yrs in between?”

Martin weighed in on Lupe’s concerns and expressed the presidential election isn’t the only time citizens should be concerned about voting.

“I also want @lupefiasco to stop thinking this election is just about Pres Obama & Romney,” he wrote. “There are other critical elections we must focus on.”

Martin elaborated the handling of the Trayvon Martin case may have gone differently if another district attorney in Seminole County were elected.

“Does @lupefiasco know that states choose folks to sit on juries based on who is registered to vote?” Martin wrote. “Can’t complain about sentences then!”

Lupe Fiasco believes change starts with the people rather than elected officials. Comedian D.L. Hughley criticized the rapper’s stance on voting saying, “He’s bright as hell, but dumb in the ways of the world,” according to Hot 93.7/ Hartford.

Lupe extended an offer to Hughley asking the comedian to match his donation offer to start programs for rural and inner city youths.

“Better yet @RealDLHughley you put up 50k and I’ll put up 50k and let’s flesh out some programs for rural & inner city youths our damn selves,” he wrote.

But Lupe’s offer went unanswered.

“DL hughley righteous ass still ain’t hollered about dropping that bread… u ni**as is the worse #Work.”

The rapper revealed the nation’s shaky history on race relations has left him hesitant to vote.

“I got slave blood in these veins ni**a this system you want us to participate in at 1point until very recently didn’t recognize my humanity,” he wrote.

“Let me heal from the wounds of 400 years of institutionalized agony and destruction first… then maybe I’ll think about voting,” he wrote.

Lupe believes voting would mean supporting the imperialistic nature of the government saying, “For a system and a government that kills and steals all over the fu**ing world with impunity and heartlessness for sake of what???”

“Not even in the name of GOD, in the name of corporate profit!! I aint voting 4 dat shit. U can unfollow if u want but #YallGoneGetThisWork,” he wrote.

“Lot more HARD TRUTH where that came from… MY elders and this country taught me very well… let me be or #YouGoneGetThisWork,” he wrote.
