Meek Mill Reacts To Fatal Police Shooting of Walter Scott

The nation is attempting to come to terms with shocking footage that surfaced showing a South Carolina police officer gunning down an unarmed black man. The Hip Hop community is just as upset.

Meek Mill was among the slew of Hip Hop entertainers who spoke out about the injustice caught on film.

The MMG rapper posted a screenshot of the chilling footage with a caption, reading, “Cop should b treated the same way that man would b treated if he killed a white cop …locked in a cell 24rs a day on death row! If it wasn’t a camera involved he would b at home with his family like it was another day at work! Of course they gone prosecute him because it’s no way 2 get around it but he should receive the max bcuz he’s a cop and he should know better!!!”

The North Charleston officer, identified Michael Slager, 33, was charged with the murder of 50-year-old Walter Scott.

The shooting incident occurred following a traffic stop around 9:30 a.m. Saturday, according to the Washington Post. The victim, identified as Walter Scott, 50, fled from the officer before being gunned down.

Charleston Mayor Keith Summey held a news conference on the incident Tuesday afternoon.

“When you’re wrong, you’re wrong,” Summey said, according to The Post and Courier. “When you make a bad decision, don’t care if you’re behind the shield or a citizen on the street, you have to live with that decision.”
