Mother Of Baby Killed In Hit-And-Run After Capo Murder Speaks Out

A mother is trying to come to terms with the loss of her infant child who was struck and killed in a hit-and-run Saturday afternoon in South Side Chicago.

The mother was headed to the beach with 13-month-old Dillan Harris and her two older daughters. The mother was waiting at the bus stop with her three children when she saw a car swerve around the corner, hit a pole and hit her baby who was in his stroller, the Chicago Sun Times reports.

Witnesses reportedly said the car continued driving through an empty lot before stopping near an alley. The suspects exited the vehicle and attempted to flee the scene. Police reportedly arrested two men from the vehicle.

Police suspect the suspect were involved in the drive-by shooting Glo Gang rapper Capo.

“It happened in the blink of an eye,” she told the Sun Times. “When I looked up, they were just there. I tried my best to save my baby.”

When she saw the stroller had been hit, she reportedly said, “I knew he was gone.”

Following the incident, witnesses who lent their assistance to the mother pulled the stroller off of the child to discover him lying in a fetal position with his butt up in the air, according to ABC 7 Chicago.

“I was trying to save my baby,” Dillan’s mother told The Chicago Tribune. “I never imagined this would happen. … My son gone so soon.”

Dillan was transported to Come Children’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
