A South Carolina middle school teacher is accused of assaulting a student by dragging the youth by the collar and calling him a Jew, The Associated Press reports.
The teacher, Patricia Mulholland, said she was attempting to give a history lesson on the Holocaust. The alleged incident occurred at Bluffton Middle School when she grabbed the boy and told him “this is what the Nazis do to Jews,” according to a police report obtained by AP.
“What was a demonstrative attempt to teach about World War II and the Holocaust has been taken to mean an anti-Semitic rant and it was nothing like that,” her attorney Robert Ferguson told AP.
