Tink is a newcomer to music scene, but has drawn comparisons to some of Hip Hop & R&B’s elites. It was her mentor Timbaland who got people talking after saying she was the next Aaliyah.
Tink opened up on Tim’s comparison during an interview with WGCI’s Kyle, Kendra and Leon.
“Timbaland gives me these talks all the time,” she said. “That statement means a lot, but he really feels passionate about it and I understand. To the world it was like ‘Oh my God. Did he just say that?’ But Tim had this passion when I met him. It wasn’t just something he threw out there. This is really something he feels strongly about. It makes me feel proud.”
Tink was thrust into music headlines after Timbaland compared her to Aaliyah during their Fader Fort performance at SXSW.
“I don’t touch any of my sister’s records,” he said. “I don’t touch baby girl’s records– you know that’s Aaliyah. I was riding home one day, sleep. She spoke to me in my sleep and said, ‘She’s the one.’”
Tim regarded Tink’s debut LP as one of the best projects he’s produced since Aaliyah’s sophomore album “One In A Million” during an interview with Power 105’s “The Breakfast Club.”
