A Washington University freshman succumbs to a bacterial infection Wednesday morning, The Republic reports.
Emily Benatar, a member of Alpha Phi Sorority, died in Barnes Hospital from bacterial meningitis, an inflammation of the protective membranes covering the brain and spinal cord.
Benatar was admitted into the hospital three weeks after falling ill. A memorial service will be held this Saturday at the Congregation Beth Am in Los Altos, CA. at 7 p.m. The university is planning to hold a memorial during the fall semester
