Floyd Mayweather Says Conor McGreggor Fight Will Happen If Fans Demand It

Floyd Mayweather is seriously considering coming out of retirement to fight MMA fighter Conor McGreggor. Floyd said he is very interested in seeing the match happen during an interview with ShoBox’s Friday night telecast.

“It’s really not a rumor,” Mayweather said when asked about McGregor. “The fight may happen. We really don’t know as of right now. But do I think the fight will happen? Absolutely.”

Floyd said the fight would have to be a boxing match, not MMA.

“We’re the A-side, of course, so it has to be a boxing match because most fights that Conor McGregor won inside the Octagon, he was a stand up guy,” said Mayweather. “So, I’m pretty sure it’s going to be a tough fight for me. We don’t really know as of right now, but it’s been a lot of talk and hopefully we can make the fight happen.”

Floyd said there was a “50-50” chance he’d step back into the ring.

“If the fans demand the fight, we’ll make it happen,” he said.
