Obesity has become a major issue in America. About 35.7 percent of U.S. adults are obese and 17 percent of children and adolescents are obese, according to a Center for Disease and Control report.
Americans suffering from obesity are prone to diabetes, coronary disease and host of other health issues. With growing obesity rates, many are opting for a healthier lifestyle and eating habits.
Some Florida A&M students have joined the growing trend. Veganism, the practice of eliminating animal products from one’s diet, is the option of choice for graduate Psychology student Robert E. Sullivan III, according to Brand News.
I chose this lifestyle because of the health benefits,” he told Brand News. This choice that I have made is important to me because I’m serious about living a healthy lifestyle. Also, in today’s society, companies are injecting their meat with steroids; they are not keeping their meat fresh.”
