Omega Psi Phi Hosts Blood Drive



Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., Pi Xi chapter is partnering with One Blood to host a Corporate Blood Drive, The Freeport New reports.

The fraternity hopes to raise awareness on the importance of blood donation in the Bahamas. Their mission is to increase the blood supply levels on the island.

The fraternity hopes to encourage first time blood donors and established donors to donate blood and to commit to regular donation throughout the year, The Freeport News reports.

Founded on Nov. 17, 1911, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity is the first African American fraternity to be founded on historically black university campus. Dedicated to its principles of manhood, scholarship, perseverance and uplift, the fraternity has been very active in the communities they serve.

Notable members in the fraternity include Rev. Jesse Jackson, Michael Jordan, Shaquille O’Neal, Steve Harvey and Steve Harvey.
