A Brigham Young student died after climbing near the Stewart Falls in Provo Canyon, The Lahontan Valley News reports.
Adam Perazzo, 22, was climbing with friends when the tragedy happened. Perazzo, who was climbing without a rope, fell 70 feet from the canyon.
Perazzo’s friends attempted to revive him until paramedics arrived. The North Fork Fire Department and Utah County Sheriff’s Office attempted CPR, but were not successful in reviving Perazzo.
Perazzo graduated from Churchill County High School in 2008 and was co-valedictorian and member of Honors School, Valley News reports. He was a member of the high school’s academic team that won the state championship in 2007.
