Comedian Lil’ Duval Defends PSY’s ‘Gangnam Style’ Billboard ‘Best Rap’ Nomination

A fiery debate ensued on Twitter due to Billboard’s nominees in the “Best Rap Song” category.

The nominees included Flo-Rida, PSY, Kanye West and Macklemore.

Many people in Twitterland questioned PSY’s inclusion in the Hip Hop category.

Comedian Lil’ Duval defended PSY and their viral hit song “Gangnam Style” being in the Hip Hop category.

“Psy is hip hop. Worldwide hip hop. Stop stunting our growth. Be happy it went from the Bronx to Korea,” he wrote.

Twitter user @realjoshyb called “Gangnam Style” a Pop song.

Lil’ Duval went on to explain what Pop music means.

Lil’ Duval further explained PSY is rapping in his native tongue.

“Y’all saying its hip hop but not rap. HE’S RAPPING IN KOREAN!!!!” he wrote.

Twitter user @bollos87 said PSY is a gimmick.

Lil’ Duval replied, “Most of rap is a gimmick.”

Twitter user @KDLME slammed Duval’s reasoning, saying, “n---- u sick!!! I guess psy rep where u from Bruh dat s--- DNT represent me”

Lil’ Duval commented, “But it shows u how far u can go.”

“N----- ain’t wit that evolving s---,” he added.
