Judge Dismisses Lawsuit From Woman Who Was Raped at Phi Beta Sigma Party

A federal judge has dismissed the lawsuit of a former Duke University student who was raped at fraternity party, The Herald Sun reports.

Katharine Rouse filed a Title IX gender-discrimination lawsuit against Duke University alleging members of Phi Beta Sigma harassed after she was raped at their house party by a non-student, Michael Jermaine Burch, of the university. Rouse claimed she was also mistreated Duke officials following the assault because they “failed to properly investigate” the Phi Beta Sigma, according to the Sun.

The university denied Rouse’s claim alleging they helped police catch Burch. Additionally, they allege they offered her counseling and other services.
