Lil Herb Teases New Music From ‘Balling Like I’m Kobe’ Mixtape

Lil Herb will one day become a household name in the realm of new school Hip Hop. He might even secure himself a spot among some of the legends of the art form.

Herb has been the topic of discussion ever since the release of his debut mixtape “Welcome To Fazoland,” which featured the soon to be classic tracks “At The Light,” “Koolin,” “Fight Or Flight,” “On The Corner,” featuring Lil Durk and KD Young Cocky, “On My Soul,” featuring Lil Reese and “Still F*cked Up,” to name a few.

Herb is back in the studio cooking up more classic, refreshing tracks. Herb is nicknaming his sophomore mixtape “Balling Like I’m Kobe” the “No Sleep” mixtape.

“#BALLINLIKEIMKONE THIS THE #NOSLEEP MIXTAPE BITCH IM WORKIN TURN YO [GANG UP],” Herb wrote on the Twitter.

Herb let fans know he is indeed working after teasing snippets of brand new music.

“N*ggas gotta make me the leave the studio!” Herb said.

Herb’s latest mixtape is an ode to his slain friend.

Kobe, whose birth name was Jacoby Herron, was murdered Aug. 10, 2013 after suffering multiple gunshot wounds to the head and body outside a South Shore McDonald’s. He was 21.

“#MISSYOUMYNIGGA,” the caption on Herb’s post read.

The East Side native gave listeners the low down on his upcoming tape during an interview with WGCI’s DJ MoonDawg.

“Official name for my next project…I’ma drop a mixtape called ‘Balling Like I’m Kobe,’” he said. “It’s in memory of my homie who passed away…Kobe,” Herb said.

Herb has mentioned Kobe numerous times in music, including songs, “All My N*ggas,” “All I Got” and “At The Light.”

“I know people probably familiar with me rapping about him on ‘At The Light,’” Herb said. “That was one of the biggest songs on the mixtape.”

In “At The Light,” Herb raps, “Me and Kobe off ACT with the sprite/He just left and they took his life/Wish the Lord would’ve just let him fight/But don’t trip man, it’s gon be alright.”

“The songs I got got meanings to them,” Herb explained. “I recorded that song three days after I lost my homie.”

Herb’s debut mixtape was named after deceased friend Fazion Robinson who was murdered April 12, 2010.

Herb’s upcoming project doesn’t have a set release date at this time.

“I don’t got an official date for it, but it’s coming real soon,” he said.
