The recent arrests of South Side Chicago rappers RondoNumbaNine and Cdai in the shooting death of dispatch driver Javan Boyd has sparked allegations of “snitching” throughout social media.
But Def Jam artist Lil Reese quickly took to his Twitter account to slam all speculation of betrayal amongst his Black Disciple associates.
“Rondo or cdai ain’t ain’t snitchin stop d*ck ridin get off lil bro Nem d*ck Mfz trickin on dem,” the “Supa Savage” rapper wrote.
Reese has stood by his 600 counterpart Rondo since the beginning of his legal troubles.
“Free Lil Rondo,” he wrote on Twitter.
Rondo was the first of suspects to be arrested. The “Real N***a For Life 2” rapper was arrested Friday, March 7 in connection with the crime and charged with first-degree murder days later. He is being held on $2 million bail.
Cdai was arrested Tuesday, March 18, less than two weeks after Rondo’s arrest. He was also charged with first-degree murder and ordered held without bail.
Prosecutors have compiled damaging evidence against the burgeoning rap artists.
Prosecutors allege Rondo and Cdai were part of a three-car entourage riding through enemy territory looking for revenge due to an earlier altercation with an unnamed party, according to the Chicago Tribune.
Rondo and Cdai allegedly sighted Boyd sitting in his vehicle and pulled their vehicle alongside his.
The two 600 rappers allegedly went to Boyd’s passenger door and asked if he was from the neighborhood. When Boyd replied he was from the neighborhood, Rondo and Cdai opened the passenger door and opened fire, according to the Tribune.
Boyd was reportedly shot seven times in all, including, twice in the back and three times in the leg, according to the Sun Times.
Rondo and Cdai allegedly rushed back to their vehicle and all three vehicles fled the scene.
Prosecutors allege Cdai told others about his role in the shooting. Witnesses, according to the Tribune, also identified him as the second shooter.
Another piece of crucial evidence was Cdai’s cell phone being left outside of Boyd’s vehicle. Furthermore, the “Bail Out” rapper’s fingerprints were allegedly found on the vehicle.
Rondo’s fingerprints were also allegedly found on the cab, according to the Tribune.
A portion of the crime was caught on surveillance camera, according to the Sun-Times.
Rondo’s next court date is set for March 28.
