Alpha Phi Alpha celebrated the fifth year of the Male Mentor program in a ceremony held in late May. Particularly, the program served a great benefit for Eric McCants, an 18-year-old Bear Creek High School senior who will be graduating with a 3.14 GPA. It is a huge accomplishment for he had a 1.5 GPA his freshman year.

Rapper Lil’ Phat, born Melvin Vernell, III, was shot and killed Thursday night outside Atlanta, Ga. Lil’ Phat, known for his affiliation with Louisiana rappers Lil Boosie and Webbie, was reportedly gunned down outside Northside Hospital in Sandy Springs, Ga. He was brought in the hospital’s E.R. where he was later pronounced dead.
