Russell Simmons is credited with discovering some of the most prolific comedians of our era in his Def Comedy Jam series, including Martin Lawrence, Chris Tucker, Bernie Mack and more.

Simmons is now set to reboot the series on HBO under new title “All Def Comedy.” Simmons tapped Tony Rock as host, and will premier the comedy special on Sunday, Nov. 12, Variety reports.

HBO agreed to six episodes, Shadow and Act reports.

“I have witnessed firsthand how the most cutting-edge, seemingly alternative comics become the driving forces in mainstream comedy,” said Simmons in a press release. “I’m thankful to HBO for allowing me to give these new voices access to mainstream audiences everywhere.”

The show will feature stand-up performances filmed in front of a live audience at the Avalon Theatre. Taping will begin in September.
