A Jackson State University alum known for his contributions with the school’s NAACP chapter was found dead in his apartment Monday.

A man convicted in the killing of a Jackson State University student has filed an appeal citing a violation of his rights.

A 21-year-old Jackson, Miss. man has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of John Sanderson, a 21-year-old Mississippi State University student. Mason Perry Jones was arrested Monday on a capitol murder charge and the sale of a controlled substance after U.S. Marshals reportedly found him traveling on a bus in Memphis, Tenn.

Two Mississippi college students were murdered this past weekend. John Sanderson, 21, a student at Mississippi State, and Jackson State University student Nolan Ryan Henderson, 19, were shot in separate incidents.
