A second woman charged in the deadly home invasion robbery that killed 21-year-old Ethan Walker has struck a deal with prosecutors, according to the Star-Telegram.
Ariana Bharrat, 22, agreed to testify in the upcoming capital murder trials of her three co-defendants, Sean Robinson, Jalen Bell and Tay-K. Her testimony will allow her to avoid a capital murder charge and escape the death penalty.
Bharrat’s plea deal will allow her to plead guilty to aggravated robbery in exchange for a 25-year prison sentence.
Megan Holt, another suspect, agreed to a similar deal.
Holt, 21, will receive a 20-year prison sentence if she pleads guilty to aggravated robbery.
A teen girl was sentenced in February to 20 years’ confinement after she was found guilty of capital murder and two aggravated robbery charges.
Latharian Merritt, the accused gunman in Walker’s shooting, convicted of capital murder by a jury in May. He was sentenced to life in prison.
Tay-K has more legal troubles he has to answer to besides the Walker case.
Tay-K faces an aggravated robbery charge for allegedly beating and robbing a 65-year-old man in Arlington’s Cravens Park in May 2017.
He is accused in Bexar County of capital murder in the April 2017 robbery and fatal shooting of a 23-year-old photographer.
Tay-K is facing a felony charge after he was caught with a cellphone inside his jail cell on Wednesday, July 25. Authorities found the cellular device tucked inside the Texas rapper’s underwear, the Star-Telegram reports.
Deputies were conducting a pat-down of Tay-K when they discovered the contraband near his groin area. They also found a charger stuffed into a white sock and tucked into Tay-K’s underwear.
After the cellphone was found, Tay-K reportedly tried to destroy it by throwing it in a toilet and got into an altercation with one of the jailers.
“They asked him to remove it. That’s when he attempted to throw it in to the toilet to destroy the phone,” McClelland said.
“When they tried to take the phone away from him, he got a little angry and got into an altercation with one of our jailers,” McClelland said.
This is Tay-K’s third felony charge for possession a prohibited item inside a correctional facility.
Bond in the new case is set at $10,000.
Tay-K has since been transferred from Tarrant County Jail in Texas to the maximum-security Lon Evans Corrections Center. He is being held on 23-hour lockdown in solitary confinement.
Tay-K is being held alone in a solitary cell for 23 hours a day and is allowed one hour of gym.
“Instead of being in a group setting with other inmates, with TV, you’re going to be by yourself for 23 hours a day,” David McClelland, Chief of Staff for the Tarrant County Sherriff’s Office, said.
This occurred after Tay-K had an altercation with another inmate.
The “Megaman” rapper told a friend during a recent jail visit that he has an admirer at Tarrant County Jail.
Tay-K says a guy keeps staring at him with a spoon in his mouth. When their eyes connect, the guy nods at him.
“They flew me out of my room to go to shower. Aye look, there’s this n***a over here, he be trying to get to me bro,” Tay-K said. “Everytime I look over here, he got his spoon in his mouth (and nods head). I’m like what the f**k. …I’m like what the f**k. Look the other way my n***a.”
