Third Suspect Arrested In Murder Of 9-Year-Old Tyshawn Lee

Kevin Edwards, the third suspect in the murder of 9-year-old Tyshawn Lee, has been arrested on first-degree murder charges, ABC7 Chicago reports.

The 23-year-old suspect was arrested in Danville, Illinois, about 150 miles south of Chicago.

Edwards was arrested following a traffic stop, according to the Chicago Tribune. He was a passenger in a car that was stopped by a deputy sheriff. He ran off but was arrested about a block away.

He initially provided a false name, but later revealed his real name after arriving at police station.

A total of three suspects have now been apprehended, including Dwright Boone-Doty, 22, and Corey Morgan, 27.

Police suspect Tyshawn’s murder may have been retribution for the murder of Morgan’s 25-year-old brother Tracey Morgan. Tracey was killed in a shooting incident that also left his mother wounded while they were in a vehicle. The fatal shooting occurred after Tracey and his mother left a police-sponsored “put the guns down” meeting with many of the area’s gang members in attendance.

Tyshawn, a student at Scott Joplin Elementary School, was shot several times in the upper body, including the head and back, ABC 7 Chicago reports. He was laid to rest Tuesday, Nov. 10.
