A University of Texas at Brownsville student accused of raping a female student in a dormitory has posted bond, according to Action 4 News.
Abel L. Gutierrez, 20, is accused of aggravated sexual assault in an incident that involved him allegedly biting and punching his victim Sunday, April 29.
Gutierrez appeared before Cameron County Magistrate Judge Patricia Edelstein Wednesday, May 2 and was issued a $50,000 bond, Action 4 News reports. He reportedly posted bail Thursday afternoon.
No word yet on whether the university has taken disciplinary actions against Gutierrez.
