A Boston university sorority is facing consequences for a hazing incident that left several members hospitalized, Fox 25 reports.
Sigma Delta Tau forced members to drink an excess amount of alcohol, which landed them in the hospital. Boston University Dean of Student Kenneth Elmore has suspended the sorority for a year.
“This type of incident, where some sisters in the organization were made to go to a location to drink excessive amounts of alcohol, appears to have been happening for some time. That went into our thinking as well. It’s absolutely unacceptable that students should be coerced or even made to feel they should do things they would not normally do and that are against their will,” Elmore told CBS Boston.
Some sorority members were also suspended from the school, Fox 25 reports. The sorority will be placed on probation for the spring semester of 2013 following the suspension.
