Chicago Mother Of Three Gunned Down Minutes After Sending Cousin Off To Prom Over Mother’s Day Weekend

A joyous occasion in South Side Chicago soon turned into a day of tragedy for a family caught in the midst of gunfire.

Summer Moore, 37 and family members held a party to celebrate a younger cousin who was set to leave for her Simeon Career Academy High School prom, according to the Chicago Tribune. Minutes after the young lady left, bullets rang out from a passing car sending family members into a frenzy.

Moore attempted to run for cover, but was struck in the back.

The single mother of three was later pronounced dead at Advocate Christ Medical Center, according to the Chicago Sun Times.

Family members are mourning Moore’s loss.

“I remember her as the happiest person you will ever meet,” said her cousin Johnathan Tanksley told NBC Chicago. “I’m going to miss her always.”

Mother’s Day weekend was the latest in a string of violence to grip the city. Four people were killed and 22 people were wounded in shootings.

Police have no suspects in Moore’s shooting death.
